박지원 의원 '저축銀 금품수수' 2심서 유죄…집유 2년

저축은행 2곳에서 금품을 받은 혐의 등으로 불구속 기소된 박지원(73) 새정치민주연합 의원이 항소심에서 징역 1년에 집행유예 2년을 선고받았다.

서울고법 형사3부(강영수 부장판사)는 9일 특정범죄가중처벌법상 알선수재 및 정치자금법 위반 혐의로 기소된 박 의원의 항소심에서 모두 무죄를 선고한 1심을 파기하고 알선수재 혐의를 유죄로 판단해 이같이 선고했다.

박 의원은 2008~2011년 임석 전 솔로몬저축은행 회장, 오문철 전 보해저축은행 대표, 임건우 전 보해양조 회장 등으로부터 불법자금 총 8천만원을 수수한 혐의로 2012년 9월 불구속 기소됐다.

An appeals court overturned a not-guilty verdict against an opposition lawmaker and sentenced him to one year in prison.

Still, the Seoul High Court suspended the sentence for two years, meaning Park Jie-Won, a lawmaker of the main opposition New Politics Alliance for Democracy, would not have to serve prison time if he stayed out of trouble during that period.

The upper court convicted the 73-year-old of receiving 80 million won ($70,600) from bankers and a businessman from 2008 to 2011 in return for peddling his influences.

Park will lose his parliamentary seat if the Supreme Court upholds the ruling of the appeals court.

Repeated calls to Park's office seeking comment went unanswered. (Yonhap)
