Springtime eateries on Jejudo Island

The following are two eateries on Jejudo Island featuring natural, seasonal dishes that travelers may want to visit during their spring outings.

Temple Stay Food in the southwestern district of Jejudo Island is a restaurant that specializes in temple food. The eatery serves healthy, fresh vegetable-based dishes that the Buddhist monks eat in their mountainside Buddhist temples. Key dishes include lotus leaf-wrapped rice and seaweed flower rice set. The restaurant is located at 843-10, Changcheon-ri, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jejudo, Korea

Another much-recommended restaurant is Daegijeong. The government-approved eatery highlights traditional local Jejudo cuisine made with fresh seafood, including dishes like sea squirt bibimbap, sea mustard soup with sea urchin egg and braised cutlassfish. Daegijeong is located at 41, Ieodo-ro, Seogwipo-si, Jejudo, Korea.


Promotions at Jin Air

Jin Air is offering promotions for tickets purchased from until May 4, for international flights flying until July 20 and domestic flights flying from June 7-July 20.

With the discounts, round-trip tickets will be priced at 144,700 won for flights from Incheon to Osaka, Japan; 113,100 won for flights from Incheon to Japan’s Fukuoka; 168,000 won for flights from Incheon to Cebu, Philippines; 103,800 won for flights from Jeju Island to Shanghai; 479,100 won for flights from Incheon to Honolulu, Hawaii; and more.

Jin Air is also offering other promotional events alongside the ticket price discounts. Tour booklets on Taipei and tickets to an aquarium in Okinawa will be given away to a randomly selected group of customers reserving tickets from Incheon to Taipei, Taiwan or from Incheon to Okinawa, Japan, online or via mobile.  


Traditional Chasabal Festival

The Mungyeong Traditional Chasabal Festival will be held from April 30-May 8 at the Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park. Chasabal means bowlful of tea.

The annual festival features programs that revolve around making ceramic tea sets. Visitors will be able to spin the potter’s wheel to handcraft their own ceramic teapots, cups, dishes and kettles for 4,000 won per person. Participants will then be able to paint designs on the teaware they’ve made. They will then be able to enjoy an assortment of Korean teas -- omija, dandelion, green tea, lotus leaf, and more -- in the teaware, along with various snacks including rice cakes and sweets.

Buddha’s birthday lantern fest

Korea’s Important Intangible Cultural Property No.122 Yeondeunghoe also known as the Lotus Lantern Festival, will take place at Jogyesa and Bongeunsa temples and on Jongno Street on May 6-8. The festival celebrating Buddha’s birthday which falls on May 14 this year, will offer glimmering night views with lotus lanterns and a vast array of traditional cultural experiences. The festival will feature traditional lantern exhibitions at three separate venues, a lotus lantern parade from the Dongdaemun Gate to Jogyesa Temple, as well as traditional performances. There will also be crafts booths where visitors can make their own lanterns.

The Bongeunsa Temple exhibition will be held from April 30 to May 16, at 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Jogyesa Temple exhibition on May 6-22, from 6 p.m. to midnight, and the Cheonggyecheon Stream exhibition on May 3-15, from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m.

3 for 2 promotion at Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines is offering a two-plus-one ticket promotion, providing a complimentary ticket for one child traveling with parents to Hawaii.

The promotion is for family travelers who purchase weekday economy class round-trip tickets between Incheon and Honolulu International Airport through all travel agencies selling Hawaiian Airlines tickets in Korea. Until May 6, a complimentary ticket for one child (under 12 years of age) will be offered with the purchase of two economy class adult tickets. For families with children over 12, a complimentary ticket for one child is provided for three adult tickets.
