Korea celebrates 20th anniversary of joining OECD

[THE INVESTOR] South Korea will host a seminar next week to discuss more cooperation with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development it joined two decades ago, the Foreign Ministry said on Oct. 20.

The seminar will be held on Oct. 20. in Seoul, with around 150 government officials, economic experts and OECD representatives, including its Secretary-General Angel Gurria on hand, according to the ministry.

The event comes in time for the 20th anniversary of South Korea‘s joining of the OECD, which is deemed to be a club of advanced countries.

Participants are expected to discuss the economic achievements South Korea has made over the past two decades, long-term challenges confronting its economy, and more cooperation between the country and the OECD, the ministry said.

On the sidelines of the gathering, Gurria is to hold a meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se to discuss ways of expanding bilateral cooperation on diverse global issues, according to the ministry.
