The Korean National Police Agency said Sunday it would step up a crackdown on illegal drugs during the July-September period.
A total of 1,069 anti-drug officers are to be deployed to catch drug suppliers on the internet and track down users.
Police arrested 2,047 people in a prior crackdown on drugs from March to May.
Drug transactions, which used to revolve around users making exchanges face-to-face, have largely moved online, and the demand for drugs seems to have increased, police said.
