[Today’s K-pop] BTS’ Jungkook garners 100m views with “3D” music video

Jungkook of BTS logged 100 million views on YouTube with the music video for his solo single “3D (Feat. Jack Harlow),” according to Big Hit Music on Friday.

This is Jungkook's second solo music video to reach the milestone, following “Seven (Feat. Latto).”

“3D” was released in late September and debuted on both Billboard’s Hot 100 and the UK’s Official singles chart at No. 5. The single stayed on Billboard’s main songs chart for nine weeks in total. The video achieved the 100 million milestone of in 84 days.

Meanwhile, he added another mark recognized by the Guinness World Records, his fifth, as the artist with the most chart-toppers on the Official MENA Chart – with “Seven,” “3D” and “Standing Next To You.” It is the first legal music streaming platform in the Middle East and North Africa launched in November 2022.

 

BTOB’s Yook Sungjae signs with production company: report

Yook Sungjae of BTOB signed a contract with iWill Media, according to a local media report Friday.

IWill Media confirmed the news following the report, adding it will support him with its full might, including his group activities.

He is the last member of the band to find an agency. His contract with Cube Entertainment expired last month, and Lee Changsub signed with Fantagio while the remaining four bandmates joined a newly established management firm.

Yook debuted as a member of the band in 2012 and has actively been pursuing an acting career as well, appearing in a number of TV dramas including “Reply 1994,” “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” and “The Golden Spoon.”

 

The Boyz’s Eric marks birthday with 1st solo mixtape

Eric of The Boyz unveiled his first solo mixtape Friday in time for his birthday, according to agency IST Entertainment.

He released via SoundCloud “22/Twenty-Two,” consisting of three tracks, including the titular track. He participated in writing and producing the songs in which he confesses his love for the fans.

Separately, the band is hosting a Christmas-themed pop-up store in Seoul this week, celebrating the success of the second installment of the second studio album. “Phantasy Pt. 2: Sixth Sense” sold over 600,000 copies in its first week, a record for the 11-member act.

The Boyz also dropped the winter special single “Dear” to mark the sixth anniversary since their debut earlier this month and hosted an encore concert in Seoul for its “Zeneration” tour.

 

Ex-NU’EST Jonghyeon to hold concert in Taiwan

Kim Jonghyeon, formerly of NU’EST, is planning to perform in Taipei, Taiwan on Jan. 20, 2024, Evermore Entertainment announced Friday.

He will perform songs from his upcoming second solo EP, “Brilliant Seasons,” which releases Jan. 3, for his fans in Taiwan. Before then, the singer and actor is set to unveil four songs from the six-track album in advance to the audience at a concert in Seoul next week.

The mini album comes about 14 months since his previous EP, “Meridiem,” and is fronted by “Motto,” an upbeat tune based on jersey club-type beats full of positive energy. Kim co-wrote the lyrics and melodies for three B-side tracks.

Kim has been appearing in a series of drama series as well, starting in 2021 with “Let Me Be Your Knight.”
