Apple Music’s app exclusively for classical music launched in Korea on Wednesday with the endorsement of South Korean star pianists Lim Yun-chan, Cho Seong-jin, Son Yeol-eum and more.

South Korean musicians who collaborate with Apple Music Classical expressed their expectations for the new platform.

Son said, "I believe it will be a valuable platform that significantly contributes to classical music becoming not just the music of past eras but our music today."

"Streaming provides an excellent opportunity for music fans to explore the world of classical music and find inspiration. I am delighted that Apple Music is launching Apple Music Classical in Asia, connecting audiences worldwide. It's exciting and promising to have a platform that brings us closer to those around the world who love classical music," Cho said.

“Since music has the power to connect people beyond boundaries, if I were to speak through music, everyone could understand. I want to convey this message through my music, and I believe it is possible because of Apple Music Classical. I am extremely proud to collaborate globally and share my musical dreams with the world, thanks to Apple Music Classical,” Lim is quoted as saying by Apple Music.

The standalone music streaming app boasts over 5 million tracks -- constituting the world’s largest classical music catalog -- covering the whole spectrum from celebrated recordings to forgotten gems, according to Apple Music.

Apple Music has also partnered with the Seoul Arts Center, Lotte Concert Hall and Tongyeong International Music Festival, adding to its previous partnerships with global classical institutions including the likes of the Berlin Philharmonic, Carnegie Hall, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic, the Paris Opera, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony and the Vienna Philharmonic.

Under the partnership, Apple Music Classical will feature exclusive track lists by Lim, Cho, Son and composer and music director Jung Jae-il, in addition to exclusive recordings from world-famous orchestras.

Apple Music Classical is available to Apple Music subscribers at no additional cost.
